Asian elephants are much smaller than African elephants. The same can be said for their ears, too, which are in constant motion in order to keep cool. Female Asian elephants travel in herds that are led by the matriarch, or the oldest female of the bunch. Male Asian elephants live alone for the most part. Both males and females like to roam by bodies of water. They enjoy eating grass, trees, and occasionally rice, sugarcane, and bananas.
